Adherence to SCIP not always associated with lower postop infections

A study in JAMA found that adhering to a global all-or-none composite infection-prevention SCIP (Surgical Care Improvement Project) score reduced the risk of postoperative infection, but adherence to individual SCIP measures, which is how the data are publicly reported, wasn’t linked to reduced infection.
