Depression may be factor in gang membership

Youth who become involved in gangs have significantly higher levels of depression and report a substantively higher rate of suicidal thoughts and behaviors than comparison youth, according to a study in Criminal Justice and Behavior. In addition, gang membership is associated with higher depression and suicide rates. Read more and read the study abstract.
