Effects of low to moderate alcohol intake during pregnancy examined

Preschool children of mothers who consumed low to moderate quantities of alcohol during pregnancy had no difference in test performance compared to mothers who abstained according to a study in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. However the authors conclude: “Despite these findings, acceptable levels of alcohol use during pregnancy have not yet been established, and conservative advice for women continues to be to avoid alcohol use during pregnancy.” Read more.
