Increased risk of congenital anomalies in offspring of nurses working in certain areas

A study of 22,611 nurses found an increased risk of congenital anomalies in the “singleton offspring” of nurses employed in operating rooms, pediatric nursing units, maternal newborn units, emergency department, and psychiatry at the time of their pregnancy. The study, which appeared in the International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health states, “Further research is needed to determine whether these are chance or consistent finding.” Read more.
