Run nurse, run!

Some pretty impressive (and relatively unknown) women finished in the top 6 at the Boston Marathon this year. And two of them are nurses!

Sarah Callister Sellers, who finished in second place, is a nurse anesthetist from Tucson, Arizona. She was a track runner at Weber State University, in Ogden, Utah, where she was a nine-time Big Sky champion at 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. To top it off, she had a 4.0 GPA in nursing. Sellers’ time was 2:44:04, and she walked away with $75,000.00 in prize money.

Finishing in fifth place was Jessica Chichester, a nurse practitioner in Brooklyn. Chicester wasn’t even seeded in the professional field’s start area; her chip time showed her as the fifth place runner. Because she didn’t start with the professionals, she doesn’t qualify for the $15,000.00 fifth-place prize. She finished the race in 2:45:23.
