Peripheral IV (PIV) catheter insertion is a common procedure performed by nurses in hospitals. Infiltrations are a common PIV complication with high reported incidences.
The presenter will review the patient impact of infiltrations and discuss results of a recently published clinical study, which was the first-ever pediatric evaluation of optical sensor technology for noninvasive monitoring of IV sites. The device was studied, verified onsite through clinical trials and upon FDA clearance, implemented throughout the hospital.
The session will offer data on the quality improvement project including ivWatch technology to reduce severe and moderate infiltration events.
